What this site is about
The Disappeared, these are the people who vanish or have been arrested and are being held as “Home Grown Terrorists.” It happened in Argentina. On Saturdays Mothers would take a photo of their missing loved one down to the town square. By their presence those women showed that they would not forget. We can do that here and in our own towns if the need arises, as it soon may.
Now, people are beginning to go missing here; they are being arrested with sealed warrants in an attempt to intimidate us into silence. Especially if you are an activist you need to know and you need to get ready.
Ask yourself what you are going to do when you are jailed, unable to talk to your family, and your bail is $600,000.00. Your innocence will not matter. Fighting could destroy your family financially; those now being arrested are targeted to silence you.
All they need to do is shut you up for long enough; just long enough for them to put in place the shackles you cannot escape. This is their plan to stop you, and others, from speaking out, from being active.
It is happening in California; it is happening across the country. If you have used your voice to protest, if you have donated, if you have held up a sign or posted on the Internet you need to protect yourself and your family, but not with silence. You need to build past the lines that now divide us, building security for yourself and opening lines of communication we desperately need.
To do that follow these guidelines.
Keep in touch with a circle of other people you trust. Support each other and reach out to people working on related issues. For instance, if you are working to stop illegal immigration also include in your 'circle' someone who is working on clean elections. If you don't know anyone working on other issues then change that. There are so many of us working on different issues today that just doing this will help provide conduits for information that keep all of us safer.
You will also be sharing answers to problems, when you start talking. Seeing problems from a different perspective often solves them. That is one of the strengths of this kind of cross fertilization between individuals and organizations.
Make sure that those you trust know how to get in touch with you and know where you live and work. Arrange to touch bases frequently. Keep your critical records copied regularly and off site with someone not known to have contact with you.
Everything they are doing is illegal - but they will do it anyway.
There are many, many courageous people doing essential freedom work today. That includes clean elections, immigration, court reform, anti-war work, impeachment strategies – the list is seemingly endless. We know some of them, ones we have checked out and trust ourselves. Look for those on The Information Hub. Help us add to the Hub with your suggestions. If you can help build websites, please let us know. All of us need to be aware of what is happening on every front. New ideas multiply that way.
Together, we can do the job. Trying to do it separately has been like trying to build a barn with just a hammer when you desperately need a chisel. We need to use all the available tools, law, getting off the grids, and the innovations that are now remaking social protest. Working together we can raise the barn quickly. Instead of arguing about what tool is best, we need to understand how to make the best use of all the tools. Used together the ideas and energy of people give us momentum, keeping those who have been abusing power off balance and unable to prosecute their war on us as Americans.
Look over those who have already disappeared. You will probably think, “That couldn't have happened to me.” Think again. It simply hasn't happened yet. Here, you can follow their stories. Please help if you can.
If we see the whole picture and cooperate we can all be free.
